Assistant After School Program Teacher

The First Presbyterian Church of Burlingame has a vibrant Mission Ministry with highly sought-after After School and Nursery School Programs to serve the community.

The After School Program is currently looking for an energetic and positive teacher to lead grades K-2 each afternoon in constructive play and homework. This is an hourly, part-time, non-exempt position (generally afternoons and early evenings from 20-30 hours a week).

Requirements:
1. Must be 25 or older and able to submit a clean driving record from the DMV.
2. Have 12 Early Childhood Education units or currently enrolled in Early Childhood Education major.
3. Experience working with children in Kindergarten – 8th grade preferred.
4. Valid CPR AED and First Aid certified (must be obtained no later than one month of gaining employment).
5. TB test with negative results within the last 3 years.

Responsibilities:
1. Plan, set up, and facilitate developmentally appropriate activities, as instructed by the planning schedule. This includes preparation and clean-up for activities as scheduled.
2. Work responsibly, equally, and respectfully with other After School Program staff.
3. Pick up and drop off children following the rules, guidelines, and policies of BurlPres while driving church vans.
4. Communicate warmly and respectfully with children and parents.
5. Consistently enforce After School Program rules, structure, and limits with the children.
6. Greet parents and be available to them.
7. Supervise children at all times.
8. Be open and willing to accept assignments from the Director and Head Teacher that pertain to the After School Program and its facilitation.
9. Attend the open house, in-service, planning, classes, seminars, staff meetings, and fundraisers as scheduled by the Director.
10. Meet all requirements for teachers contained in the After School Program policies.

Director of Children’s Ministries

We are seeking an outstanding candidate for the Director of Children’s
Ministries position (part time).

Van Driver

We are looking for additional mini-van drivers to help transport the children from schools located in the Burlingame School District to our church facility.

This is a 10-15 hour week, part time position and a great opportunity to work with kids.

Requirements:
1. Must be 25 or older and able to submit a clean driving record from the DMV.
2. Have a valid Class C driver’s license

Youth Ministries Intern

Purpose: To assist the Youth Director in providing leadership for 6th through 12th grade students in support of FPCB goals including: Christian education, pastoral care, mentoring relationships, fellowship opportunities, development of student leadership, and worship experiences, leading youth into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and his church.

Supervision: The Youth Ministries Intern shall be under the direct supervision of the Youth Director and under the indirect supervision of the Sr. Pastor.

Key Roles: Work with the Associate Directors of Youth Ministries:
1. Administration- 30%
2. Program (Planning, Presence, and Teaching)- 40%
3. Mentoring and Coaching- 10%
4. Worship/ Music- 20%

Status: 15 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Administration
a. Communication
i. Assist in the preparation of monthly/quarterly newsletters/email
ii. Update webpage twice per month.
iii. Update bulletin article weekly with up-to-date information.
b. Organization
i. Keep the youth calendar up to date weekly.
ii. Keep track of attendance and take pictures at youth events.
iii. Update bulletin boards.

2. Program
a. Presence
i. Be present at all youth events (Sunday morning, JAM midweek, ROCK midweek)
ii. Participate in one mission trip or summer camp
b. Planning
i. Consult appropriate resources for activities, themes, ministry integration,
etc.
ii. Assist in the organization program logistics (supplies, food,transportation, registration, etc.)
c. Teaching
i. Lead JAM or ROCK Sunday School class each week with material or curriculum provided by the Youth Director
ii. With the assistance of the Youth Director, plan and deliver 1 high school message per month

3. Mentoring and Coaching
a. Meet with Youth Director 1-2 hours per week to talk about personal and spiritual
formation and development.
b. Spend time praying for students, leadership of the church, and before programs
4. Worship
a. Be able to lead or coordinate two or three praise songs for JAM on Wednesday
nights
b. Work with volunteers, JAM, and ROCK students to find, develop, and showcase
their musical skills in the form of worship

Other expectations:
a) Maintain confidentiality at all times,
b) Be supportive of FPCB and the church staff in all contacts with the church
membership and the general public.
c) Perform other duties as assigned
d) Comply with the policies and procedures as noted in the most current FPCB
employee handbook.
