Mexico Mission Trip 2010

July 25-August 1, 2010

Listen firsthand to these transforming experiences from our 2008 trip

Purpose

The annual Mexico trip is an intergenerational trip consisting of youth from ninth grade and up. The trip involves three key components building houses in a depressed area of Tijuana, building relationships with one another, and growing in the Christian faith.

Dates

This trip is an opportunity to serve those less fortunate in the Tijuana area. All participants are expected to take part in respecting the customs and culture of the peoples of Mexico and respecting their fellow travelers. The dates of the trip are all inclusive and all travelers are expected to remain with the group throughout the trip, returning to participate in the worship service on August 1.

Age Requirement and Parent Participation

Students going into ninth grade and up may attend however due to the nature of the trip, first time students under the age of 16 must have a parent attend with them or another approved, responsible adult.

Passports Required

All participants must have an up to date passport in order to attend. It takes at least 2 months to obtain a passport. Please don’t wait!

Service Hours

20 hours of community service will be offered to students who attend the trip. If you have a particular need to earn more service hours please talk to Pastor Henry Hansen or Youth Director Starla Ackley about additional responsibilities you can take on before and during the trip. The site leaders and Mexico leadership team will evaluate students at the end of the trip to determine how many service hours will be awarded based on the students efforts during the trip. These hours can be acquired through helping at the camp site and through participation on the work site. Students who desire to earn service hours should complete a Service Hour Application Form prior to the trip.
