In May of 2006,
San Mateo County hosted a conference to inform the community of things
being done to ensure that we are prepared in the event of a major flu
pandemic. First
Presbyterian Church of Burlingame joined a large audience of
representatives from public agencies, medical service providers,
faith-based organizations, community service organizations and the
business community. The
subject of the conference, “Building Community
Resilience,” defines
the goal of the San Mateo County public health agencies and our goal as
a participating organization. Key
elements of the plan to build resilience include -
- Open
communication. Our public health
officer is committed to providing information to keep us informed of
events related to our community. We
will share information by publishing to this web site.
Visit us often.
- Education. Our national and
local agencies are providing information to assist us in understanding
how to be prepared in the event of an emergency.
We will provide links to basic information that
we consider to be most beneficial.
- Assistance.
FPCB is forming congregational care teams. We will help members to
prepare for an emergency and will establish methods of communication
that enable us contact members to ensure that families are OK in the
event of a serious emergency situation.
