The
Christian Recovery and Renewal
Center is a
non-profit,
501 (c) 3 corporation, which provides church-based care for the whole
person. Located
at the First Presbyterian Church of Burlingame, the Center helps
individuals
and families in recovery. The Center provides assistance for people
dealing
with relationship issues, emotional hurts, mental illness and
addictions. Individual,
family, marital and group counseling; spiritual direction; social
assistance and
medical referral are offered. These services are available at a reduced
rate
for those in need.
COUNSELING
The Center provides
counseling
services for children, adolescents and adults dealing with a broad
range of emotional, relational and behavioral problems.

SPIRITUAL DIRECTION
The
Center provides spiritual
direction, which is the art of journeying together to discern
God’s will and purpose.

workshops and worship services
SOCIAL ASSISTANCE
The
Center works with social
service agencies and other church programs to offer assistance to those
in need of food, shelter and housing. The Center provides training of
lay leaders to reach out to the homeless and people who are isolated.
MEDICAL REFERRAL
The Center provides
medical
screening to those in need and referral to community health centers.
The Center works along with local clergy to help meet the medical
concerns of their local congregations. The Center provides training of
lay leaders to be attentive to the medical needs of those being served.

FEES
Fees for services are assessed
on an individual basis. Fees are reduced for individuals who
qualify. Many insurance companies reimburse for mental health
services.
DIRECTIONS
The center is located in
Burlingame, at the First Presbyterian Church. Take 101, exit at
Broadway. Take Broadway west to El Camino Real and turn north on
El Camino. The church is about half a mile on the left at Easton Dr and
El Camino.

Dr.
Tim Engelmann, PhD
Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Engelmann
is Harvard
Medical School trained in clinical psychology with a specialty in the
integration of Christian faith experience and the therapeutic
process. His
practice involves working with adults and older children. Dr. Engelmann
also
mentors pastors in training at Fuller Theological Seminary to help them
with
better understanding Christian based mental health services. He
currently
serves on the Presbyterian Church (PC/USA) Task Force on Comprehensive
Serious
Mental Illness, which has provided a major policy statement for the
Presbyterian Church (USA). Dr. Engelmann is a licensed
psychologist
(PSY-17316).
He has office
hours at the
church Monday - Friday, except for Tuesday. He sees clients during the
evening
on Monday & Wednesday. Counseling relationships are kept
strictly
confidential.
