Music Ministries

The music at First Presbyterian Church Burlingame is a blessed ministry. While many of us feel God's presence as we sing or play our instruments, our real mission is to serve our congregation so that they may experience God's presence in worship. We do our best to rehearse and prepare great music. God takes our efforts and uses them in ministry. God takes our individual voices and instruments, combines them and makes music far greater than we are capable of on our own.

Choirs & Ensembles

 
Chancel Choir

• Sings anthems, service music and leads congregational singing at 11:00 worship each week.
• Presents concerts and special events at various time through out the Church year
• No audition necessary. All singers High School age and above are welcome.
• Rehearses Thursdays 7:30pm-9:30 (Sanctuary and Fireside room)

Musica Sacra

• Community vocal chamber ensemble sponsored by our church, specializing in Renaissance Sacred choral music for worship and concert.
• Audition required
• Open to all ages
• Rehearses Sundays 7:30-9:00 (Private home)

Chancel Handbell Ringers

• Advanced handbell ringing ensemble, playing in worship approximately
  once each month
• Positions may become available at any time
• Substitute positions always available
• Handbell ringing and musical experience required
• Rehearses Thursdays 6:00pm-7:15

• Training handbell ensemble for youth (with adult and high school mentors)
• Positions always available
• Music reading a plus
• Plays occasionally for worship
• Rehearse Wednesdays 5:30pm-6:15

Lighthouse Singers

• Children’s Choir for 1^st-4^th grades (Kindergarten age considered)
• Sings once each month for 9:30 worship and occasionally at 11:00
• Presents a spring musical in May
• Presents special Advent/Christmas music annually
• Rehearse Wednesdays, 6:30pm-7:30

Simply Spirit Praise Band

• Lead contemporary music for our 9:30 worship each Sunday
• Leads all-church retreat each fall
• Guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, singers, sound team
