Worship:

It’s Essential…. the core of our faith-community!

° We were created to worship God – (Gen 1: 26a) “Then God said, ‘Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness;’”

° Worship is a response to the Risen Lord – (Luke 25:52-53) “And they worshiped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy; and they were continually in the temple blessing God.”

° Worship is communication with God. – (Ex 31:13) “You shall keep my Sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, given in order that you may know that I, the Lord, sanctify you.”

° Worship is a commitment to God – (Ps 145:1-2) “I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless you, and praise your name forever and ever.”

° We worship empowered by God through the Holy Spirit. (Luke 24: 49)  “And see, I am sending upon you what my Father promised; so stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high”

° Worship is a relationship with God – (2 Cor 6:16a) “For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, ‘I will live in them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.’”

We have three regular worship experiences each Sunday morning!

 8:15 a.m. - Chapel service

Because we gather in the Chapel, the original church building on this site, our earliest service feels a bit like worship in a small church community. This short, intimate, traditional-styled worship is led by the morning’s preaching pastor and church organist.

(Entrance to the chapel is on Balboa Ave., or through Fellowship Hall)

9:30 a.m. - Contemporary-styled Family service. (Sanctuary)

Many in our congregation enjoy worshiping in a more contemporary-styled experience. For us this means a more creative free-flowing structure, contemporary praise music led by the Simply Spirit Praise Band and generally just a more casual atmosphere. Christian Education is available for children during this service.

11:00 a.m. – Traditional-styled Choral service (Sanctuary)

Many in our congregation enjoy a more traditional-styled experience. For us this means beautiful modern Reformed liturgy, hymns and choral music led by the Chancel Choir with pipe organ, and a special awareness of the Christian liturgical year.

During the summer we switch to just one blended service at 10:00 a.m. in our Sanctuary
