Boy Scout Troop 156
e
proudly sponsor Boy
Scout Troop 156 which currently has 48 Scouts. More than 100 scouts
have earned their Eagle Scout rank - the highest rank in Scouting -
while members of Troop 156, and this record of achievement is unmatched
by any other troop in San Mateo County. Troop 156 is one of the oldest
and strongest troops in the Pacific Skyline Council. The Troop prides
itself in being a "boy run" troop but also has 11 adult leaders (a
Scoutmaster & 10 Asst. Scoutmasters) to advise the boy leaders.
The
Troop meets at FPCB on Monday nights at 7:15 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.
The strong outdoor program includes 5 to 7 backpacking trips annually,
and the Troop has taken high adventure trips to the Alaskan &
Canadian Rockies, the Florida Keys, Philmont in New Mexico, and Maui in
addition to its regular trips to the California Sierras.
The Troop is open to all boys ages 11 to 18 for membership. Scouting
provides opportunities for boys to develop citizenship, solid values,
leadership, and outdoor skills, and perhaps no other organization
provides young men exposure to better role models than Scouting.
