Faces
of Faith
The
support of members and friends enables FPCB to be a refuge and a family
to many, an instrument of spiritual and personal growth, a positive
force for change in the world, and a place to experience Christ's love.
Please read the stories of our eight "Faces of Faith," to see
examples of what your faith make possible.

“First
Presbyterian Church is like a close family to me. People here
have given
me the strength, hope and encouragement to do things that I
wouldn’t have
imagined I could.
I’d like to see FPCB grow in its
music ministry and outreach to the local community. God blesses us
all.
Passing those blessings along is the fun part.”

“FPCB
is
where I want to be, telling people about Christ’s love, and
feeling His love
within this community. This is a contagious church.
I’ve grown
here, challenged beyond what I would have thought possible.
I’ve also received so much support – in a
crisis, Pastor Paul is at your
door. I feel loved and cared for. With support, we
can extend that
love to more people.”

“Where
else can you go for such spiritual inspiration? My wife and I
love this
church as a place for living. We have so much to give,
especially to the
young people, who are looking to us to learn how we each can
give.
In addition, worship at First Presbyterian Church provides such
consolation and
reaffirmation . . . where would we be without our church?”

“On
retreat I finally stopped looking for Jesus. I realized He
kinda finds
us! He found me here at FPCB, where it is like a
big family.
I’ve grown here, and met role models, like Rev. Linda
Galligan. They’ve
made me realize I’m a “change-the-world”
person, and that’s my goal for the
whole church, to reach out more locally and internationally. We can do
it with
peoples’ gifts - and everyone here has so much to
give.”

“First
Presbyterian is part of Christian tradition that forms the glue of our
society. I’ve been blessed to be a part of this
wonderful congregation
that has given my family so much. Attending worship on
Sundays is so
important for my wife and me - I feel we are entering a new phase in
First
Presbyterian’s history and are making bold leaps of faith for
future
generations.”

“I
am
from so far away, yet when I arrived here, I saw this was a real, true
family
for me. Many of the adults back in my village in Cameroon
have passed away from HIV AIDS. Now people at First
Pres are
helping the many orphans left behind. I know this is true:
The Lord
blesses you so that you will be a blessing. We are blessed
with life
itself – we need to be that blessing in the world.”

“I
love
attending services at First Presbyterian. One of my favorite
memories of
the church is watching the artist design the tapestries that hang on
the walls
in the sanctuary. Paul and Genie
Watermulder
have been very gracious to me and attended my 105th
birthday party
in August.”

"We
have been
blessed by the church community and presence of God at First Pres. Life
here
has been so good: meeting my husband in the choir; raising our
children;
watching them grow into mature and compassionate adults, while
supported so by
many activities… music, youth groups, mission trips, summer
camps, theater,
picnics… and, of course, the worship experience for our
whole family. It
has been people and the programs that have made the difference, and oh
– what a
difference!”
