What is Home & Hope?
Through community partnerships like our church, Home & Hope helps break the cycle of homelessness for families. By providing a network of emergency shelters, families are given a bridge back to self-sufficiency. Our church has been involved for about 15 years. Visit the Home & Hope website to learn more.
How Can You Help at Church?
From May 13-26, in Fellowship Hall at church, we will be providing shelter for families. They will be spending nights in tents and receive meals and companionship by those who volunteer. There are two roles we seek to fill: Evening Meal Preparation and Evening Hosting.
As an Evening Host, you will provide the loving kindness of Christ, while sitting with the families during dinner. Simply listening and talking to them is a great gift. How you spend the remainder of the time with them is up to you — perhaps helping the children with homework, playing a game, or doing a craft project. You can always contact the coordinators, Roger and Sharon, for ideas.
Evening Meal Preparation
You will prepare and serve a balanced nutritious dinner to a family during your shift. The meal can be prepared in advance at home and reheated at the church OR you can prepare the whole meal in the church kitchen. After dinner, you will help cleanup. Dishes, flatware, and napkins are all provided by the church.
