SURVIVOR
(for recent H.S. Graduates - 24 year olds):
This time is for YOU if
you are a
recent high school graduate, a senior in college, a fulltime employee
trying to
make it on your own & are 17-24 years old. Come & hang
out with
us on June 30, July 7 and July 14 from 6:45 - 9:00
p.m.
Come
prepared to check out your survival skills in the areas of: Surviving
college
or the work force, Surviving a
roommate, & Surviving your own choices. There will be food,
games
& some healthy competition. There will also be a pool, so
bring a
swimsuit & a towel. If you have any questions contact Starla Ackely

On
a Pastoral note...
Have you noticed sometimes people like to
call themselves “evangelical Christians,” or “liberal
Christians?” In the “bad old
days” those were thought to
be mutually exclusive. But many
thoughtful Christians very willingly claim both titles, at least when
they are
at their best. Conservative Christians
“maintain many lines that should never be crossed, while liberal
Christians
destroy many lines that should never have existed,” writes author
Tony Campolo.
I suspect it is time for
believers to
reclaim the person and work of Jesus Christ as our rallying point,
where we
will find neither the politicized uses of “evangelical” nor
the secularized
uses of “liberal.” A new
movement of
“Red Letter Christians” is seeking to again blend the best
of Jesus’ two worlds
of private and public faith, inviting us all to reaffirm the whole
gospel for
the whole world. This is the true and
energizing center of our faith—no longer worrying about
left-right so much as
following the path of Jesus day by day.

Summer Camp at First Pres
June 22- August 7, 2009
Join us for one or all of our 7 fabulous weeks
of summer camp. Each week has a different theme and field trip. Camp is
available for all kids entering 1st through 8th grades. We hope you
will join us as we explore science, art, sports and games, what it
takes to survive, unravel mysteries, and more.

Family Game Night
Friday, July 10th from 6:00-9:00 p.m.
All families with kids ages
0-6th Grade are invited to bring their family to Family Game Night on
Friday,
July 10th. Bring your favorite games to play and Potluck Finger Foods
for a
snack.
