Focus
on Ministry...
Haitian
Relief
Christian
missions and ministries have been active in Haiti for many years, and
now are
our prime way to provide effective, immediate, undiluted aide for the
suffering
of the earthquake victims. Our church plans to respond in a
variety of
ways to needs as they emerge, beginning right now with our setting up a
fund to
receive over and above contributions which we will send 100% to
Christian aid
workers who are on the scene. As you may be aware, these are often
the
most reliable and knowledgeable people on site. Christ reminds us
that
our definition as Christians comes in part when we feed, clothe, care
for “the
least of these, my brothers and sisters.” Please pray and
give from your
heart this week, in Jesus’ name. Please make check payable
to our church
with Haiti
written in the memo line.
On
a Pastoral note...
Which of the Ten
Commandments (see Ex. 20) brings you the most
worry? Since I live 3000 miles from my
parents [and they are aged 89 & 87], I think and pray a lot about
#5 (Honor
your father and your mother). So I am
spending this weekend with them at their home, to eat, talk, worship,
and just
“be” with them as we again experience God’s love of
family. I know many of us struggle with
long distance
families; may we pray for the Lord to be in our relationships and to
bring us
together face to face as often as He needs!
